AtomicCupcake.com is offering a free copper effect action for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements this week.
I used it on a script font (Splendid ES) - and here's the results. I like the 'pipeness' of the look, but feel their copper color is just a tad too pink on my monitor (which is calibrated for our print-outs) so I added a warming filter to it. You can see the original color, and my 'warmed up' one below it in the image:

Your mileage may vary on the colors, I know well the vagaries of monitor displays.
